KHIONE (Summer) | AP

2019

Polished Bronze, Black Patina, Black Granite Pedestal

28”H x 9”D x 10”W | 71cmH x 22cmD x 25cmW

This sculpture interprets Khione the Greek goddess of ice and winter. It depicts the face of a woman her eyes are closed in the quiet of stillness. Her elongated neck elegantly leads up to her lips and cheeks awaiting for an imaginary glacial upheaval, glittering crystals of melting ice flow down to her cheeks. The frigid darkness of winter is fading away. Symbolically this sculpture represents the miracle of transformation. In her endless wisdom, Nature shows us that all things change, and seasons are an example of this undeniable rule of life.
