This sculpture is my visual and emotional interpretation of the maleficent Covid-19 virus. The inspiration comes from its vibrant colors and the elegant 3D structure viewed from a microscope. The sculpture is made of concrete and metallic mesh. The warped shape & jagged edges of the sculpture convey the obscurity and mystery of a virus that has spread fear, anxiety, death and confinement across the world. The free form and the outward movement of the sculpture is also symbolic - it represents the difficult and uncertain path we will have to take to rid the world of this virus.
